Experience
A private boat to the Nea Kameni crater walk, then a warm swim in the Palea Kameni sulphur springs.

The day
The volcano is younger than it looks — the last eruption was 1950. A private caïque takes you across to Nea Kameni for the walk up to the still-steaming crater, then on to the ochre-warm sulphur springs off Palea Kameni for a swim.
Because it is private and small, you go early, before the day boats arrive. Bring shoes you can climb in and a swimsuit you do not mind staining faintly gold.
Water, fruit and towels are on board.
Run for us by Captain Dimitris Fytros and his six-metre wooden caïque.
